Policies
- All members must maintain a 3.5 weighted GPA (first semester freshmen do not have GPAs yet, but they can still join). If your GPA drops under 3.5 in one semester, you will be on “probation”.
- All members must attend ALL MEETINGS as all general meetings are mandatory. You are given TWO free absences with no punishment, if you exceed these absences, you will be assigned TWO EXTRA HOURS for each additional absence. Contact an officer if you are going to be absent to explain your situation, we will help you in anyway we can.
- The ONLY time that you are allowed to be excused from meetings are if you have a Wake-Tech class, another meeting for a different club, or a WAKEFIELD sports-related event at the same time. You will NOT receive your 30 minutes for meetings that you were excused from.
- Please visit the Hours Spreadsheet to view your absences and more.
- Have any more policies you believe our chapter of Key Club should enforce? Feel free to email them to any of our officers, we would love to hear your feedback on improving the standards of this chapter.
Hour Requirements |
This year we are asking you to submit a picture of your Hour Sheet. Each semester, you will attach an image of the sheet to the Hours Form. For online activities, you will still need to fill out the google form that goes with the opportunity AND record the opportunity on your Hour Sheet. To check your previously recorded hours, visit the Hours Spreadsheet. **Semester one hours will be due January 8th** **All hours will be due May 6th**
- All members must do 10 hours due EACH semester (20 hours total).
- All members must do a minimum of 10 sponsored hours by the end of the school year, but members can do all 20 hours as sponsored. Sponsored hours are any opportunity that is listed on the website.
- Max 5 sponsored teacher help hours each semester (must be at one of the Wakefield schools, if not Wakefield it is unsponsored).
- Max 5 unsponsored hours each semester - unsponsored is any service that is not on the website. Please make sure that the service activity is reasonable. UNSPONSORED HOURS ARE NOT MANDATORY!
- All club meetings count as half a sponsored hour. Meetings are mandatory. If you are absent to too many meetings, you will be required to complete extra hours. Please see "Policies" for more information.
- Absolutely no double-dipping at all (using the same hours for two or more clubs).
Penalty Hours
Penalty hours are extra hours assigned to a member of Key Club for not meeting a requirement. Reasons for getting penalty hours include members not completing all their hours from previous years, being absent to more than two meetings, turning in required forms late, and more. If you do not understand why you were assigned penalty hours please contact an officer for an explanation.
- Absences: You will be assigned two additional hours per additional absence. If you do not make up your extra absences, you will be prevented from joining Key Club in future years.
- Incomplete Hours from previous school years: A rounded number of hours will be assigned to you based on how many incomplete hours you have. Maximum of five penalty hours.
- Incomplete Forms: You will be assigned one additional hour per form for each extra week you take to turn in the form. (Example: If you turn in a form two weeks after it was due, you will be assigned two penalty hours). If you turn in a required form too late, you may not be eligible to remain a member of Key Club.
