Planet Protectors' Australian Wildfire Fundraiser
Planet Protectors will be selling vinyl stickers and metal straws in order to raise funds to Australia to aid with wildlife and ecosystem relief after their devastating wildfires this past dry season. Stickers and straws will be available for purchase from March 10th-13th during all 3 lunches in the Commons Area. Cash and Venmo accepted! If you donate, please write it on your hour sheet but do not worry about getting your sheet signed. We have records on who donates!

Mud Day
Mud day will involve fun activities to connect children to nature and mud, education on wetlands, and the history of Walnut Creek Wetland Center and its connection to the social justice movement started by Partners for Environmental Education. Volunteers may be asked to ensure safety at obstacle course stations, assist children with crafts, tattoos, fort building, soil painting, etc.

Catching Fireflies 5K
This unique event is the only luminary run in Raleigh held on a nice, hot North Carolina evening where you may even have a chance to catch a few fireflies! Come out and volunteer at this wonderful event supporting a great charity to help fight cancer.

Beaverdam Olympic and EmergeOrtho Sprint Triathlon
Just moments away from the hustle and bustle of the city, Falls Lake is a great way to escape urban life. With a 12,000-acre lake and 26,000 acres of woodlands, Falls Lake State Recreation Area offers a choice of recreation areas Beaverdam, B.W. Wells, Highway 50, Holly Point, Rolling View, Sandling Beach and Shinleaf. Help out with this event by directing runners, handing out packets, and giving out refreshments!

Earth Day 2020 at Dorothea Dix Park
Join Multiple City of Raleigh Departments as they host Earth Day 2020 at Dorothea Dix Park! This event is a celebration of the environment and sustainability that will have games, food, vendors, and activities for kids. Volunteers are needed to assist with activities (crafts and games), our Volunteer Drive, and general event information. This opportunity is broken up into two shifts. Volunteers must be at least 14 to volunteer and be able to stay for the entire length of their shift.

Great Eggstravaganza
Join Brier Creek Community Center for our Great Eggstravaganza event. This event will include pre-hunt activities (indoors) of arts and crafts, leading up to the egg hunt outdoors. Breakfast with the Bunny
Hop on over to Laurel Hills for our annual Breakfast with the Bunny event. This event includes crafts, games, and other family entertainment. Volunteers will setup, assist with arts and crafts, picture station, activity stations, food tables, hiding eggs, and will help clean up after the Breakfast with the Bunny event.

Food Shuttle Garden Gallop 5K Run/Walk
Join us for the fourth annual Food Shuttle Garden Gallop 5K! This year the Food Shuttle Garden Gallop 5K will benefit the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle’s Urban Agriculture Education Initiative including programs which teach sustainable food production and nutritious meal preparation, promote the establishment of gardens to increase healthy food access and develop sustainable community food system models. Annual International Festival
The annual International Festival of Raleigh offers 3 days of international performances, food, games, art, cultural exhibits and shopping. Over 60 Triangle ethnic communities ranging from Afghan to Vietnamese participate to showcase their cuisine, dance, and music; to share traditions and to celebrate the Triangle’s unique diversity.

Southeastern 5K
Join us for our annual Southeastern 5K taking place in the beautiful surroundings of Wake Forest, NC. This timed race will start on the campus of Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and wind its way through Wake Forest’s charming downtown and the scenic Historic District before finishing in front of the field of Patterson Hall on the campus of Southeastern. Forest Pines Elementary Dance

Krispy Kreme Challenge
The Krispy Kreme Challenge is an annual charity event in which participants run a 5 miles road course leading to a Krispy Kreme Doughnuts shop, eat one dozen doughnuts, and run back to the finish line in under 1 hour.

Specialized Recreation Valentine's Day Dance
The Raleigh Youth Council will host a specialized recreation Valentine's dance for teens and adults with disabilities ages 14 and up. Volunteers are needed to help set up and break down the dance, support the dance by dancing and/or interacting with participants and serve light refreshments. Volunteers will be helping to create an inclusive and fun event for teens and adults with disabilities to have fun. Volunteers can dress in causal or comfortable clothing for the event. They will need to be able to help set in the event in their attire.

MLK Day of Service Mulching
In honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., you're invited to give back to MLK Memorial Gardens! Volunteers are needed to assist with mulching to help beautify the park. Mulching plays an important role in well landscaped areas as it controls weed growth, provides moisture for plants, and an overall positive aesthetic look to the park! Volunteers will spread mulch around the landscaped areas. Volunteers will work in teams to help fill wheelbarrows, run wheelbarrows and dump mulch in identified landscape beds, and rake mulch.

2019 Holiday Express
Holiday Express has become a City of Raleigh tradition for the past 11 seasons. During the event, Pullen Park is transformed into a winter wonderland where guests can experience activities such as a sledding hill, the Crafty Elves tent, a meet and greet with Santa and Mrs. Claus and more! By volunteering at this event, individuals and groups have the ability to start the season off right for families in the community. Your support can help enhance the magic of the holiday season for kids and their families.

The FOURTH annual Frosty Run 10k and 5k is the fastest growing 10K in Wake Forest! We need lots of volunteers to help keep our runners safe on the course. Bring a friend or family member and enjoy the morning while giving back!

ICSA Swim Meet at Optimist
This is a typical swimming competition between the city teams that are part of the ICSA. They will be competing against each other, as well as the clock, for the best times in each stroke as well as two relay events and the Individual Medley. Volunteer duties will vary depending on what is needed. They could include timing, ribbon writing, running cards from timers to the scorers and taking children to their designated swimming lanes.

Fall Arts Fair
The Fall Arts Fair showcases the work of jewelers, potters, painters, printmakers, bookmakers, glass artists and fiber artists who participate in Pullen and Sertoma Arts Centers' programs. Raleigh Trail Maintenance Day
Volunteers will repair the trail tread and will cover large roots and other parts of the trail with mulch. We will be using wheel barrows, shovels, and rakes. By making repairs to the trails at Durant Nature Preserve, we can ensure that they are safe and functional!

Annual Trick-Or-Treat for UNICEF
Kiwanis International and UNICEF are joining forces to help eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus (MNT) worldwide. This historic initiative, called The Eliminate Project, aims to put an end to this cruel, centuries-old disease. It will also help pave the way for the delivery of other lifesaving services, such as clean water, nutrition and other vaccines. Every year, UNICEF launches the trick-or-treat for UNICEF campaign to promote the idea of children helping children, and raise money and awareness for this worldwide crisis. The Eliminate Project has raised over $85 million since 2010; 26 countries have eliminated Maternal & Neonatal Tetanus and we have seen a 42% drop in the number of babies dying from it each year. Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF to save a life! Please pick up a coin box at T25 to start if you want to participate!

Raleigh is hosting a carnival with games, prizes and treats! This family-friendly event is free and open to the public. Raleigh Roots History Festival
On Saturday, Oct 12th step back in time at the Raleigh Roots History Festival. It is a celebration of the rich history of the founding and creation of North Carolina’s Capital City. The event will feature living history that includes a loom, a blacksmith, cooking demonstrations, and a revolutionary war encampment. In addition, there will be a kid’s zone, old-fashioned games, free carriage rides, and vendors. Main stage performers will include the Tryon Palace Fife & Drum Corps, Sir Walter Raleigh, Jonkonnu dancers the musical stylings of Ken Bloom. Volunteers will aid in the set up, running, and break down of the Raleigh Roots History Festival. Duties may include manning the informational booth and running games and activities. Dorothea Dix Invitational 5K 2019
This race is an invitational race for local high school cross country teams and will consist of multiple races and an awards ceremony at the end. Volunteers will be helping at the finish line to collect the tracking chips from each participant, helping to man the water station and hospitality tent, and with other duties as needed. Volunteers could also be used to monitor the track and cheer on racers. They will be sending out detailed maps of where to park and day-of logistics prior to the event. Please wear clothes that can get dirty, and sturdy closed-toe shoes such as sneakers. They will provide water, snacks, sunscreen, bug spray, and a first aid kit.

2019 Raleigh Tamale Festival
The 2019 Raleigh Tamale Festival is a celebration of the Latino culture. This free event is open to the public and will include activities such as authentic performances from local groups, games and activities for the kids, Latin dance lessons, local art exhibits, community resources, retail vendors, food vendors and a food truck & amateur tamale competition and of course a wide variety of tamales to purchase representing many different Latin American countries. Volunteers will be needed for the set up, implementation, and breakdown of following areas: logistics, entertainment, competition, vendors, activities, and staff support. Volunteer duties will be assigned the day of the event. Volunteering at this event is a great way to positively impact the Latino community & support the ever-growing diversity of Raleigh.

Raleigh Horseshoe Farm Invasive Removal Day
Join staff in removing invasive non-native plant species from Horseshoe Farm Nature Preserve! Volunteers will be dragging and stacking the removed Privet. Invasive species out-compete the native plants that our animals rely on for food. By removing these problem plants we are giving our native species a chance to grow. We will be working outside on uneven ground as we cut and remove the Privet in the wooded areas of the park. Please bring a water bottle and wear sturdy, close-toed shoes and clothing you can get dirty. They will supply the tools and work-gloves!

Wakefield Recycling

Teacher Help/Tutoring
Wakefield teachers need help with grading, organizing, cleaning, etc. In order for teacher help to be sponsored, it must be at any 3 Wakefield schools. If not a Wakefield school, then it is unsponsored! Maximum of 10 sponsored teacher help hours each semester.
Bingo Night at the Factory
